The Motel
OFFICIAL RELEASE!
Asian Cinevision and the Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) is thrilled to celebrate the cinematic release of THE MOTEL by debut director Michael Kang. The script for the coming-of-age tale of chubby, 13-year-old Ernest (Jeffrey Chyau), a second generation Chinese-American, who helps run his mother’s sleazy rent-by-the hour motel, won the 2001 AAIFF Screenplay Competition as well as earning the filmmaker an invitation to the coveted Sundance Screenwriters Lab. Fresh from its world premiere at Sundance, THE MOTEL returned for it’s East Coast premiere as the Centerpiece Presentation of the 28th Asian American International Film Festival.
