“ACTS OF LOVE” STORY CONTEST

Stories are a powerful way to inspire others. The Jeremy Lin Foundation and Jubilee Project want to hear your story or the story of someone that your organization serves. Winners of the story contest will have an opportunity to chat with Jeremy Lin and share their story via Google Hangout!

In an essay, short story or poem, tell us your story about a mentor or mentee that you’ll never forget. Talk about the challenges you were able to overcome together and the impact they had on your life. We will ultimately curate your stories on the Jubilee Project blog to serve as an inspiration for others.

If possible, include an accompanying photo that depicts your story. Your entry can be of any length and form – but be thoughtful and creative. Be open and honest. Your stories are powerful, and they play an important role in encouraging others to overcome their challenges as well.

HOW TO ENTER: Submit your story to project.jubilee@gmail.com by July 15, 2014. Please include your name, the name of your mentor / mentee, and contact information (email and phone number) along with your submissions. Submissions must be in English. Contest is open to all ages.

Below is a short film “Lost for Words” by the Jubilee Project featuring Jeremy Lin, NBA Point Guard on the Houston Rockets. It tells the story of a young Burmese refugee who overcomes his challenges and fears with the help of a dedicated mentor.

Too often, young refugees and immigrants face immense challenges navigating American society, including cultural and language barriers and even bullying. The goal of “Lost for Words” is to show the life-changing impact of mentorship and to inspire viewers to take action.
