As part of the Human Rights Watch film festival, Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry by filmmaker Alison Klayman will be co-presented by Asian CineVision as its opening night presentation for a closer look at Chinese human rights activist Ai Wei Wei and those close to him. It takes on the complexities of Ai’s life for three years, beginning with his rise to public prominence via blog and Twitter after he openly questioned the deaths of more than 5,000 students in the 2008 SiChuan earthquake. Ai has documented every incidence where his outright opposition to oppression led to police harassment and injuries, his persistent effort continues to expand his large fan base in China.
